H.E. Nadiem Makarim is Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia. He received his primary education in Jakarta and completed his secondary education in Singapore. He continued his studies at Brown University, USA, majoring in International Relations and participated in a student exchange program at the London School of Economics. After that, he earned an MBA from Harvard Business School. Nadiem’s career began as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company in 2006. After completing his studies at Harvard, he became Co-Founder of Zalora Indonesia and Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) at startup Kartuku. In 2010, Nadiem founded Gojek, a technology-based transportation and delivery service company that has now grown rapidly. In October 2019, Nadiem stepped down from the position of Gojek CEO and was appointed as Minister of Education and Culture by President Joko Widodo in the Indonesia Maju Cabinet for the 2019-2024 period, making him the youngest minister in the cabinet.
