Prof. Yasonna H. Laoly, S.H., M.Sc., Ph.D., is the Minister of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia. He also served as a member of the House of Representatives of Indonesia in 2004-2014. He received his bachelor degree from University of North Sumatra, Faculty of Law, in 1978. He also received his Master of Science from Virginia Commonwealth University, United States of America, in 1986, and was awarded the Outstanding Graduate Student Award. He finished his doctorate in North Carolina State University, United States of America, in 1994
