Bounthavy Phonethasine is the Deputy Director General of the Department of Religious Affairs at the Central Lao Front for National Development. He began his career in the same institution in 2004 and became a member of the Lao Revolutionary Party. In 2007, he was appointed Vice Head of the Religion and Buddhism Section and later served as Vice Director General of the Lao Front for National Development in 2015.
